Playdough Recipes
The following are various homemade playdough recipes. They are simple to make and cost much less than ready made ones
from the stores.
Salt Playdough
Ingredients :
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp. Oil
- Food Coloring
Directions :
1. Mix together all ingredients and cook for 3 minutes over low heat. Stir well.
2. Add food coloring.
3. Knead the play dough. Store in a plastic container.
Kool Play dough recipe
Ingredients :
- 3 cups Flour
- 1/2 cups salt
- 2 Koolaide packages (for color and scent)
- 2 cups Boiling water
Directions :
1. Mix dry ingredients together and add boiling water.
2. Knead on floured board.
JELL-O Playdough
Ingredients :
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 1 (3-1/2-oz.) package "unsweetened" Jell-O
Directions :
1. Mix all ingredients together and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until consistency of mashed potatoes.
2. Let cool and knead with floured hands until dry.
Note: This recipe needs to cool completely "before" storing it in an airtight container.
Edible Peanut Butter Playdough recipe
Ingredients :
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 2/3-1 cup nonfat dry milk
- 2 tbsp. honey
Directions :
1. Mix ingredients.
2. Add enough powdered milk to make playdough dry enough to handle.
3. Shape into balls.
Tips for preserving your playdough
1. Keep the play dough in air tight container.
2. To preserve the dough from mold, and makes it smell nice, add vanilla or peppermint extract.
3. Don't use playdough on a wet surface or handle with wet hands. It'll get messy.
